Overview

• Police raised the tally to at least 16 linked incidents after two more were reported on Aug. 23 on the 8600 block of South Keating Avenue and the 5000 block of South Kilpatrick Avenue.
• The burglaries span Garfield Ridge, Brighton Park, Bridgeport, McKinley Park, Scottsdale and Armour Square, largely clustered along the Stevenson Expressway corridor.
• Offenders reportedly claim to have hit a garage door, impersonate Water Department or construction employees, or wait for residents to take out trash before entering homes.
• Investigators say the crew includes two women and several men and has used a white van with no plates, a 2023 gray Chevrolet Colorado without plates, a black Chevrolet Traverse with custom white rims and a white pickup truck.
