Coyoacán Ranks Among Mexico City’s Top Three in Q2 Security Survey

Mayor Giovani Gutiérrez credits coordinated operations with federal forces over four years for the borough’s improving security perception.

Overview

  • The INEGI’s Q2 2025 ENSU survey placed Coyoacán among the three alcaldías with the lowest insecurity perception in Mexico City.
  • A July 26 operation in Pedregal de Santo Domingo removed about 20 tons of illegally placed materials from public spaces.
  • Authorities also cleared 10 street stalls, five semifixed stands, impounded 10 abandoned vehicles, issued five traffic infractions and two warnings.
  • The borough’s security approach combines chatarrización drives, elimination of illegal chelerías, house-to-house patrols and sidewalk recovery under the Civic Culture Law.
  • Gutiérrez’s administration plans to continue enforcing civic regulations in partnership with municipal and federal agencies to sustain safety gains.
