Overview
- Mayor Giovani Gutiérrez framed the center as core to local identity, saying culture drives education and development and declaring that Coyoacán is the museum.
- Culture chief Hilda Trujillo reported the restoration of 11 casas de cultura as well as theaters and forums to widen participation in the arts.
- The venue currently serves more than 1,500 students of all ages through about 65 workshops spanning visual and applied arts.
- Founded as a municipal cultural center in 1985, the site previously functioned as a huerta, a paper factory and a private residence.
- The anniversary show features work by 18 workshop teachers in disciplines that include drawing, oil, watercolor, sculpture, ceramics and digital photography.
