Courts Release Over R$2.4 Billion for INSS Back Payments as Administrative Refunds Top R$1.53 Billion

  • The Federal Justice Council released more than R$ 2.4 billion in RPVs tied to August rulings, covering 157,627 INSS beneficiaries, with payments executed by regional federal courts on their own schedules.
  • Administratively, the government has returned over R$ 1.53 billion to 2.46 million people nationwide, with deposits made directly to benefit accounts and corrected by the IPCA.
  • In Rio de Janeiro, 182,444 retirees and pensioners have been reimbursed, totaling more than R$ 124.4 million, representing 94.69% of those who adhered to the agreement.
  • In Piauí, 47,789 people have received refunds—92.86% of those eligible—while the North region has 190,063 reimbursements exceeding R$ 145.6 million, including 13,772 in Acre.
  • To bolster payouts and pursue accountability, the AGU secured judicial blocks of about R$ 2.8 billion in suspected assets, and a July 17 provisional measure freed R$ 3.31 billion in extraordinary credit.
