• Wong Chun Xiong, 39, was sentenced to nine months’ jail and ordered to pay about S$408 after a punch at Bouncy Paradise in 2023 left another father with facial fractures.
• District Judge Eugene Teo found CCTV footage showed excessive force and ruled that private defence did not apply given Wong’s options to disengage and his physical advantage.
• Prosecutors sought 10 to 11 months for Wong as the defence argued provocation and parental instinct, and the court allowed him to defer the start of his sentence.
• In a separate case, an unnamed 39-year-old received three weeks’ jail for slapping a six-year-old at Westgate in 2024 after the boy’s kick to a styrofoam wall caused the man’s daughter to fall.
• District Judge Janet Wang called the slap unwarranted, the child suffered a bruise and brief nightmares, prosecutors had asked for six to seven weeks, and the man had pleaded guilty in August.
