Vandersloot is the Sky's all-time assist leader and ranks second in WNBA history in assists, behind Sue Bird.
Her decision to leave New York reportedly stems from a desire for a larger role and a team that values her contributions on and off the court.
The move comes as the Sky continue their rebuilding efforts under new head coach Tyler Marsh, with the team also holding the No. 3 pick in the upcoming WNBA draft.
