Court Told Latham–Matthews AVO Dispute Nears Settlement as Interim Order Dropped

The longer-term application remains active with a December return date.

Overview

  • Matthews’ lawyer told Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court the private AVO case was very much likely to settle after three months of talks.
  • An application for an interim AVO was withdrawn, and a bid for a non-publication order was also withdrawn during the appearance.
  • Despite Mark Latham claiming on X that the matter was delisted and withdrawn, the court was told the application remains on foot and will return in December.
  • Earlier reporting said any agreement would bar Latham from posting about Matthews or raising her in parliament, while the lawyer in court kept any proposed terms confidential and said discussions were ongoing.
  • Matthews separately faces charges over alleged non-consensual recording and distribution of intimate images with a November court date, and Latham has denied her allegations and faces no criminal charges.
