Court Orders DHB to End Probe into Coach André Fuhr Allegations

The Landgericht Dortmund ruled that the Deutsche Handballbund (DHB) must cease the work of its independent commission investigating allegations against former coach André Fuhr.
The decision follows a prior ruling by the Oberlandesgericht Hamm, which criticized the commission for violating Fuhr's rights by labeling him as a perpetrator without due process.
Over 40 individuals had come forward with allegations of psychological abuse by Fuhr, leading to his dismissal from Borussia Dortmund and the DHB in 2022.
The court's decision mandates that the DHB address these allegations through an internal disciplinary process as outlined in their trainer regulations.
DHB President Andreas Michelmann expressed the organization's commitment to violence prevention and indicated potential plans to appeal the ruling.
