Court Extends NIA Custody of Two in Red Fort Car-Bomb Case

The agency pursues remaining links through extended questioning plus a suspect-led identification of explosive-refinement sites at Al Falah University.

Overview

  • Additional Sessions Judge Prashant Sharma granted the NIA 10 more days to question Yasir Ahmed Dar and eight days for Dr Bilal Naseer Malla.
  • Dar is described by the NIA as the ninth arrest and an alleged close associate of planner-driver Umar-un-Nabi, whose death in the blast was forensically confirmed.
  • Investigators took accused Jasir Bilal Wani, alias Danish, to Al Falah University in Faridabad, where he indicated locations used to refine explosives, with the process videographed.
  • The probe has produced nine arrests, including doctors Muzammil Ganaie, Adeel Rather and Shaheen Sayeed, while other accused remain on remand to January 8.
  • Agency filings outline roles that include facilitation of the Hyundai i20 purchase by Amir Rashid Ali and technical work on modified drones and attempted rockets attributed to Wani.
