Overview

  • On June 4, the judge refused Disney’s request for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction to prevent Connolly from starting at YouTube.
  • Disney filed suit on May 21 accusing YouTube and Connolly of breach of his November 2024 three-year contract, tortious interference and unfair competition.
  • The ruling highlighted Disney’s failure to show an urgent need for relief, the balance of harms favoring Connolly and a low probability of success.
  • YouTube has pledged that Connolly will not participate in negotiations over the soon-to-expire YouTube TV licensing deal with Disney.
  • Disney expressed disappointment and vowed to pursue further legal remedies as Connolly assumes his role as global head of media and sports partnerships.
