Court Clears Limited Filming of Kim Keon Hee’s First Hearing
Prosecutors pursue allegations that a Lee Ufan painting was provided to her circle in exchange for political backing.
Overview
- The Seoul Central District Court will permit media to take photos and video before the corruption trial hearing set for 2:10 p.m. Wednesday.
- Filming will be confined to designated areas inside the courtroom and must cease when the bench ends the recording period.
- Special counsel Min Joong-ki’s team summoned Kim for questioning on Thursday, her first session with investigators since her Aug. 29 indictment, and she has remained in custody since Aug. 12.
- Investigators are examining claims that former prosecutor Kim Sang-min provided a 140 million-won Lee Ufan painting to Kim’s brother in return for help with a People Power Party nomination in Changwon’s Uichang district.
- A court issued an arrest warrant for the former prosecutor last week citing a risk of evidence destruction, while his side maintains the painting was never delivered.
