Overview

• The collision at kilometre 570 near the Roma Sud junction crushed the car of Emanuele Cosmai, 57, and Patrizia Firrao, 58, killing them instantly.
• Their daughter Adriana, a Carabinieri maresciallo, witnessed the crash although her vehicle was not involved.
• Their younger daughter, Gabriella, and her partner were airlifted to a Rome hospital in critical condition after the impact.
