Couple Admits to Murder and Dismemberment of London Woman
Gemma Watts and Steve Sansom face life sentences after pleading guilty to killing Sarah Mayhew and disposing of her remains in a park.
- Sarah Mayhew, 38, was murdered in March 2024, and her dismembered remains were discovered in Rowdown Fields, New Addington, south London, in April.
- Defendants Gemma Watts, 49, and Steve Sansom, 45, who knew the victim, admitted to murder and perverting the course of justice.
- Sansom, previously convicted of murder in the 1990s, used a Facebook account under the name 'Red Rum' and made disturbing posts before the crime.
- Watts was linked to the crime scene through phone evidence and denied unrelated charges of possessing indecent images of a child, which will remain on file.
- Sentencing for both defendants has been adjourned to January 2025, with life imprisonment being the only possible sentence.
