Counterfeit Nandini Ghee Network With Tamil Nadu Link Busted in Bengaluru

The probe centers on counterfeit stock entering Bengaluru through licensed KMF distributors.

Overview

  • A joint CCB Special Investigation Squad–KMF Vigilance operation based on secret intelligence led to November 14 raids on Krishna Enterprises locations and vehicles in Chamarajpet.
  • Police arrested four accused and seized 8,136 litres of adulterated ghee along with coconut and palm oil, machinery, four goods vehicles, mobile phones and Rs 1.19 lakh, with total seizures valued at about Rs 1.27 crore.
  • Investigators say the adulterated product was manufactured in Tamil Nadu, packed in counterfeit Nandini sachets and bottles, then supplied to Bengaluru license holders who sold it to wholesale and retail shops and some Nandini parlours at market prices.
  • The racket allegedly mixed palm and coconut oil with genuine ghee to multiply volumes, with investigators reporting instances of one litre of real ghee being turned into five litres of adulterated stock.
  • KMF first flagged the case after a regular distributor sharply cut ghee orders, and investigators are now scrutinizing license holders for possible insider involvement while awaiting FSL tests on potential animal fat use.
