Overview
- WOZ became available to Costco members in mid-October as a members-only mobile virtual operator that issues service exclusively via eSIM and is run by Mirlo on the Red Compartida network operated by Altán Redes.
- Customers can port their numbers and activate lines over eSIM with an advertised sub-24-hour changeover and an introductory promotion that raises monthly data allowances up to 50 GB for the first year after porting.
- Plans are tied to Costco membership tier and start at 189 pesos per month for the standard Dorada Basic option, with multi-tier pricing lists published for Dorada, Dorada Ejecutiva, Negocio, and Negocio Ejecutiva memberships.
- WOZ plans include unused-data rollover, 1,500 calling minutes with unlimited SMS, zero-rated access to selected social apps for text use only, roaming in the U.S. and Canada, and travel eSIM packages for many countries.
- Device limits could slow uptake because WOZ requires eSIM support, Band 28 and VoLTE compatibility, unlocked and Mexican-homologated phones, and it explicitly lists Google Pixel devices as incompatible; the launch adds a new competitor to Mexico's growing OMV market, which already holds roughly 15% of subscribers.
