Corpac Restores Full Runway Operations in Cusco, Keeps Huánuco Works on Track for Nov. 1 Restart

The state operator says the planned upgrades follow ICAO standards and are timed to protect safety while limiting schedule disruptions under MTC oversight.

Overview

  • Corpac confirmed today that Cusco’s Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport is operating at full runway length after completing maintenance on the threshold asphalt.
  • The operational length in Cusco had been reduced by about 600 meters since Saturday, but flights ran normally through coordination with the DGAC and airlines.
  • Finishing tasks in Cusco, including repainting markings and cleaning, will take place from 1:00 to 5:00 a.m., when no flights are scheduled.
  • At Huánuco’s Alférez FAP David Figueroa Fernandini Airport, surface works run October 20–31 with commercial flights suspended and a planned restart on November 1 following final inspections.
  • Huánuco’s intervention includes crack sealing, slurry seal patching and full repainting under ICAO-recommended methods, with Corpac framing the efforts as part of broader upgrades at regional airports.
