Overview
- Assistant Coroner Jean Harkin concluded at an Inner West London inquest on Sept. 5 that Ubiribo’s death was caused by a pulmonary embolism originating from a penile filler procedure.
- Evidence presented at the inquest said about 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid with lidocaine were injected into his penis at an unnamed Bangkok clinic earlier in March 2026.
- After the procedure he complained of chest pain during a hotel massage, fainted twice, was taken to Sukhumvit Hospital and died in the early hours of March 6 despite more than 100 minutes of CPR.
- A UK pathologist reported finding cellular material in Ubiribo’s lungs that matched the hyaluronic acid used in the injections, a result the coroner said was consistent with an embolism caused by the filler.
- Medical experts cited in coverage warned that penile fillers carry serious vascular and functional risks and the case has renewed questions about the safety and inconsistent regulation of genital cosmetic procedures.
