Coroner Rules Neglect Contributed to UK Woman's Death After Cosmetic Surgery in Turkey

Demi Agoglia, 26, died from complications following a Brazilian butt lift procedure at a Turkish clinic with substandard care.

Demi Agoglia, a mother of three from Salford, died in Istanbul after undergoing a Brazilian butt lift procedure in January 2024.
The coroner concluded her death was caused by a microscopic fat embolism and ruled it a result of misadventure contributed to by neglect.
The clinic, Comfort Zone Surgery, failed to provide proper pre-operative, post-operative, and informed consent processes, with unqualified staff involved in her care.
Ms. Agoglia sought the surgery after seeing celebrity endorsements, despite warnings from her family and partner that she did not need it.
The coroner plans to write to the UK Health Secretary urging action against unsafe overseas cosmetic surgeries marketed to vulnerable individuals.
