Coroner Rules Dan Rivera’s Death Natural, Confirms Annabelle Was Not Present

The finding cites his known cardiac history, dispelling claims that the artifact played any role.

Overview

  • Adams County Coroner Francis Dutrow said on Sept. 4 that autopsy results showed a cardiac-related cause and ruled the death natural.
  • Pennsylvania State Police reported nothing unusual or suspicious at the Gettysburg hotel, where the 54-year-old was found by staff.
  • Rivera, a senior investigator with the New England Society for Psychic Research on the Devils on the Run exhibit, had told colleagues he felt ill before returning to his room.
  • NESPR and peers issued memorials, and colleagues now say they will continue select tour appearances, including this weekend’s Maine Paranormal Convention and an October stop at ScareFest in Kentucky.
  • Entertainment reporting notes The Conjuring: Last Rites includes a dedication to Rivera, and separate coverage highlights new custodianship of the Warrens’ collection by Matt Rife and Elton Castee.
