Corinthians Hit With 6-Month Transfer Ban After Missed Cuiabá Payment

The sanction followed a missed Raniele installment to Cuiabá that the club says it has now cleared.

Overview

  • The CNRD of the CBF imposed a six-month registration block on Oct. 20 after Corinthians failed to pay the second installment due Oct. 17 in the Raniele deal.
  • Corinthians paid roughly R$780,000 later the same day and will seek reconsideration, but the punishment stays in effect until the chamber reviews the request.
  • Cuiabá triggered disciplinary measures, and relator Marcelo Lessa wrote that a five-day period in the agreement was for presenting proof of payment rather than extending the deadline.
  • The registration ban applies to all new athlete signings across the club's men's and women's teams for the duration of the sanction.
  • Even if this ban is lifted, an earlier transfer ban tied to the Santos Laguna debt for Félix Torres, active since Aug. 12, will continue to block new registrations.
