• On June 18 in Toronto, Carroll was hit in the left wrist by a 91.4 mph sinker from Blue Jays reliever Justin Bruihl.
• Initial X-rays cleared Carroll of a break, but MRI and CT scans on June 23 exposed a chip fracture in his wrist.
• General manager Mike Hazen described the fracture as nondisplaced and said his return timetable will be reassessed after a few weeks.
• Arizona has already placed Corbin Burnes, A.J. Puk, Justin Martinez and Gabriel Moreno on the injured list, testing the team’s depth in a close NL West race.
