Copper Thefts in Saxony Cause €90,000 in Damages

Police investigate two major thefts of copper and brass from properties in Vogtland and Erzgebirge during the holiday season.

During the Christmas period, thieves broke into two vacant apartment buildings in Plauen, stealing copper cables and pipes valued at €10,000.
The break-ins caused significant property damage, estimated at €90,000, far exceeding the value of the stolen materials.
In a separate incident in Grünhain-Beierfeld, over a ton of brass worth €9,000 was stolen from a business site, though property damage was minimal.
Police have launched investigations into both cases, citing suspicion of particularly severe theft.
Authorities are seeking witnesses who may have information about the perpetrators or the stolen materials' whereabouts.
