Copa del Rey Second-Round Draw Set for Nov. 11 as RFEF Keeps Proximity Rule

The federation will group clubs by region to limit travel for one-off ties hosted by lower-tier teams.

Overview

  • The draw will take place at RFEF headquarters in Las Rozas on Tuesday, November 11.
  • Second-round matches are scheduled for December 2–4 as single-leg fixtures at the ground of the lower-division side.
  • Video review will not be used in this round under the current competition rules.
  • Fifty-six clubs are in the pot: 15 from Primera, 17 from Segunda, 11 from Primera RFEF, 11 from Segunda RFEF and 2 from Tercera RFEF.
  • The proximity-based format shifts to two geographic zones from the four used in the first round, which could produce local derbies such as Mallorca vs Atlético Baleares, while reports indicate Málaga cannot draw a Primera opponent under the current grouping.
