Coordinated Year-End Drug Raids Net Major Seizures Across India

Authorities describe a coordinated push against interstate trafficking networks that moved heroin, ganja and opium.

Overview

  • Delhi Police’s Crime Branch arrested Anshul Rana and Ganga Parshad alias Vicky and seized 2.034 kg of heroin valued at over Rs 10 crore, along with a scooter and six phones, after Rana disclosed supplies were procured via Bareilly.
  • Navi Mumbai’s Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested 25 accused tied to a Punjab-based supply chain, seized heroin, opium and other items worth about Rs 3.31 crore, and said 10 additional suspects remain wanted as teams pursue leads in Punjab.
  • Thane Crime Branch seized 638 kg of ganja worth Rs 2.04 crore from a car and arrested Chinna Tagur Laxman Nayak, whom police say ferried consignments from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh; he was remanded in custody till January 3.
  • Kerala’s DANSAF detained seven people, including a doctor and a dental student, and recovered small quantities of MDMA and cannabis, with police stating the group sourced synthetic drugs from Bengaluru.
  • Other actions included ANTF’s seizure of 3.5 kg of opium in Bareilly intended for Punjab with two arrests, the SSB and local police holding three Nepal nationals near the Indo-Nepal border with 27.52 g of smack, and Guwahati police arresting three peddlers with heroin.
