Coordinated Raids Dismantle Córdoba Counterfeit License Plate Factory

Investigators are tracing an online-to-courier sales circuit that grew from gaps in official plate supply.

Overview

  • Police carried out simultaneous searches on October 14 in Córdoba, Quilmes and a Buenos Aires gallery, seizing hundreds of plates, printing and die‑cutting equipment, metal blanks and key documentation.
  • A six‑month probe by the Policía de la Ciudad’s complex crimes tech unit led the case, with Fiscalía No. 35 requesting warrants that Judge Juan José Cavallari approved for the three locations.
  • The main workshop on Esquiú al 900 in Pueyrredón produced current and older plate formats for cars, motorcycles and trailers, and shipped orders to other provinces.
  • The network took orders via a website and Marketplace with pickup points in downtown Buenos Aires and central Quilmes, and sellers pitched the products as identical to official plates priced at 40,000–50,000 pesos.
  • Two people were detained for identification with no arrests reported, and authorities are analyzing seized records to map the distribution chain and determine whether other clandestine sites exist.
