Coordinated Attacks Damage 57 Urbi Buses Across Brasília as Police Probe Motive

Police are examining a possible link to recent dismissals that the company says involved only three workers.

Overview

  • Vehicles were struck by stones and marbles between roughly 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., shattering windows and doors while buses were in service.
  • Seven people suffered minor injuries from broken glass, with reports filed at the 26th Police Station in Samambaia Norte.
  • The incidents spanned Núcleo Bandeirante, Samambaia, Taguatinga, Recanto das Emas, Ceilândia and the EPIA, and targeted only Urbi buses.
  • At least ten buses were unable to run on Friday morning, and damaged vehicles will undergo forensic inspection that could temporarily reduce availability.
  • Authorities reported suspects were identified but no arrests by midafternoon, stepped up patrols near Urbi garages and asked the public for tips.
