Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel Repeat as NBA December Rookies of the Month

Their divergent strengths—Flagg’s all-around workload versus Knueppel’s elite perimeter volume—have pushed them to the front of the rookie race.

  • The NBA named Flagg (West) and Knueppel (East) the December winners, marking a second consecutive month for both.
  • Flagg averaged 23.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 13 games on 51.6% shooting, remaining the league’s youngest player at 19.
  • He logged a 42-point outing on Dec. 15, the most ever by an 18-year-old, and became the first rookie with 40 or more in a game since GG Jackson II in April 2024.
  • Knueppel put up 20.8 points, 4.7 assists and 4.2 rebounds in 12 games with a .500/.462/.903 split, leading rookies in made threes with 117 this season.
  • He reached 100 career three-pointers in 29 games, the fastest in NBA history, as other nominees included Cedric Coward, Dylan Harper, Ryan Nembhard, Derik Queen, Maxime Raynaud, Egor Dëmin, VJ Edgecombe and Tre Johnson.
