Coogler Confirms Active Work on Black Panther 3, Eyes Denzel Washington Role

The director is refocusing on Wakanda now that Sinners has concluded its run, positioning the franchise to follow 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars.

Ryan Coogler said “working, yeah, working” at the Ironheart premiere, confirming that active development on Black Panther 3 has resumed.
Coogler has written a part with Denzel Washington in mind and hopes to secure his collaboration, though producer Nate Moore has clarified that no deal is finalized.
The third Black Panther film is slated for release after Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027 and could occupy one of Marvel Studios’ four planned 2028 release slots.
