Conxemar Opens in Vigo With Record Exhibitors as Traffic Jams Revive Push to Expand IFEVI

Overview

  • The 26th edition runs October 7–9 at IFEVI with a record 797 exhibitors from 46 countries.
  • Opening morning brought long queues on the AP-9 and surrounding roads despite a multi-agency traffic plan that closed AP-9 entry 157 and restricted vehicles over 3,500 kg.
  • Organizers rolled out an expanded international buyer program, growing participation from 13 to 29 countries and invited buyers from 35 to 50, along with a new showcooking stage.
  • At the inauguration, Conxemar’s Eloy García renewed calls for an inter-administrative agreement to expand IFEVI, and Vigo’s Zona Franca reiterated readiness to finance the project subject to required approvals.
  • Minister Luis Planas and Galicia’s Marta Villaverde opposed a proposed 67% cut to the FEMPA fund and said negotiations to protect sector support have begun.
