Overview

• Traffic Wales closed the Conwy Tunnel in both directions at about 8:30am following a safety systems fault.
• The Welsh Government says traffic cannot pass through the tunnel until repairs are completed.
• Signed diversions of up to 45 miles are in place via Betws y Coed using the A470 and A5.
• Queues have built for miles with delays reported back to Penmaenmawr and Colwyn Bay.
• Updates are being issued by Traffic Wales as North Wales Police assist, with no reopening time yet and drivers urged to avoid the area or allow extra time.
