Convicted Paedophile Employed as Lifeguard at UK Resort

Dean Carelse, previously deported from Australia for child-related offenses, worked at Butlin's in Somerset before being uncovered by journalists.

A convicted paedophile, Dean Carelse, was found working as a lifeguard at Butlin's in Minehead, Somerset, after being deported from Australia.
Carelse had previously been convicted of more than a dozen charges related to indecent acts against children in Queensland, Australia.
Despite his criminal record, Carelse was able to secure employment at Butlin's by presenting falsified documents that passed a DBS criminal check.
Butlin's has terminated Carelse's employment and stated that they will review their policy on checking new staff members.
South African and Australian authorities are investigating Carelse's potential links to a paedophile ring operating in private schools.
