Convicted Murderer Vincent Lee Flees During Temporary Prison Release

Derbyshire Police have appealed for information under reference 972 after Lee failed to return to HMP Sudbury, leaving his victim’s family terrified.

  • Lee did not return to HMP Sudbury on August 7 after being granted temporary release from the open prison.
  • Derbyshire Police describe Lee as a 63-year-old white man, 5ft 5ins tall, bald on top with grey hair on the sides, last seen in a blue T-shirt, grey Nike tracksuit bottoms, black boots and blue and black glasses.
  • Authorities are asking anyone with information to quote reference 972 and contact Derbyshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously.
  • Lee was sentenced at Swansea Crown Court in April 1987 to life with a minimum 15-year term for murdering Ann Worrell in 1986, dragging her to her bed and setting her alight.
  • The victim’s daughter, Mandy, says the family is “terrified” by his escape and has been reawakened to anguish after his earlier licence breach in 2018.
