Convicted Murderer Mistakenly Released from Georgia Jail Remains at Large

Kathan Guzman, a trained MMA fighter serving a life sentence for the 2022 murder of his ex-girlfriend, has been on the run for over two weeks due to a clerical error.

Kathan Guzman was mistakenly released from Clayton County Jail on March 27, 2025, after staff misinterpreted a court document related to his charges.
The error occurred when jail staff failed to notice that a motion not to prosecute applied only to a necrophilia charge, not his felony murder and aggravated assault convictions.
The U.S. Marshals Service has been enlisted to assist in the search for Guzman, who remains at large as of April 10, 2025.
Victim Delila Grayson’s family, particularly her mother, has expressed fear for their safety and criticized the delayed public alert about Guzman’s release.
Local officials, including District Attorney Tasha Mosley, have condemned the procedural failures, calling for accountability within the Clayton County Sheriff's Office.
