Convicted Murderer Lori Bill Germa Escapes Minimum-Security Unit at Archambault Institution

Correctional Service Canada has enlisted the Sûreté du Québec in a manhunt following Germa’s disappearance from the minimum-security wing.

Overview

  • Staff conducting the 10 p.m. count on July 5 at the Archambault Institution’s minimum-security unit discovered that Lori Bill Germa was missing.
  • Germa is serving an indeterminate sentence for first-degree murder and is described as 178 cm tall, fair-complexioned, with no hair, multiple arm tattoos and a scar on his left leg.
  • This is the second inmate breach at the facility in under two weeks after Richard Plourde escaped on June 22 and was recaptured the following day.
  • Correctional Service Canada obtained an arrest warrant for Germa’s arrest and has asked the public to report any information to the Sûreté du Québec.
  • CSC has launched a formal investigation into the circumstances of the escape and is reviewing minimum-security protocols for vulnerabilities.
