Convicted Murderer Jason Budrow Pleads Not Guilty to Attempted Murder of Kristin Smart's Killer Paul Flores in Prison

Budrow, already serving two life sentences, could face an additional 27 years to life if convicted of the new charges.

Jason Budrow, a convicted murderer, has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempting to murder Paul Flores, the convicted killer of college student Kristin Smart, in a prison attack.
Budrow is accused of slashing Flores' neck with a makeshift weapon in the prison yard of Pleasant Valley State Prison in California on August 23, 2023.
Flores, who was serving a 25-year-to-life sentence for the murder of Smart in 1996, was hospitalized for two days following the attack before returning to prison.
Budrow is already serving two life sentences without parole for strangling his girlfriend in 2010 and his cellmate, serial killer Roger Reece Kibbe, in 2021.
If convicted of the new charges, Budrow could face an additional sentence of 27 years to life in prison.
