Convicted Killer of North Dakota Student Moved Off Death Row

Alfonso Rodriguez, who was convicted of kidnapping, raping, and killing 22-year-old Dru Sjodin, has been moved from death row in Indiana to a federal prison in Florida.
Rodriguez's death sentence was overturned in September 2021 due to constitutional rights violations during his trial.
Federal prosecutors announced in March that they would not seek the death penalty again, and Rodriguez's sentence was changed to life without parole.
Sjodin was abducted from a mall parking lot in Grand Forks, North Dakota, in 2003 and her body was found in Crookston, Minnesota.
Rodriguez is now serving his life sentence at Coleman II, a high-security federal prison in Sumterville, Florida.
