Converse Confirms September 4 Drop for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s SHAI 001 “Butter”

Priced at $130, the model will launch on Converse’s website with distribution through Nike’s SNKRS app plus select Kith and Undefeated stores following a limited post-parade offering in Oklahoma City.

Overview

  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the first basketball player to earn a Converse signature shoe since Elton Brand in 2010.
  • In his role as Converse Basketball Creative Director, he led both the shoe’s silhouette and logo design, submitting hand-drawn sketches to guide development.
  • The SHAI 001 unibody silhouette incorporates a zippered shroud over a ghillie-laced inner bootie, Nike Zoom Air cushioning and a radial traction outsole.
  • The initial “Butter” colorway channels the monochrome look of Timberland’s classic Wheat boot and will inform the palette of upcoming editions.
  • Before the global release, Converse sold a limited run of the “Butter” edition exclusively in Oklahoma City following the NBA championship parade.
