Contemporary Resort Splash Pad Reopens After Unannounced Maintenance
A fresh paint scheme and gray accents suggest a cosmetic refresh that does not end the resort's ongoing multi-year refurbishment through late 2027.
Overview
- The children's splash pad at Disney's Contemporary Resort was closed for maintenance beginning in September and has now reopened with water features working again.
- On-site crews used temporary barriers, plastic coverings, and surface prep while repainting the central structure and nearby features.
- The splash pad now shows various shades of blue and swapped gold decorative elements for dark gray, and reports say some flooring or plumbing was refreshed where needed.
- Disney has not publicly detailed the full scope of the work or confirmed whether the splash pad project is formally part of the Contemporary's wider refurbishment.
- The resort's multi-phase renovation that began in September 2024 will continue into late 2027, so guests should expect scaffolding, restricted areas, and intermittent daytime work during stays.
