A new five-vote minimum rules Bonds, Clemens, Sheffield and Valenzuela out of the next committee ballot.

Overview

  • Kent was the lone selection from eight candidates, earning 14 of 16 votes, and will be inducted in Cooperstown on July 26, 2026 alongside any BBWAA electees.
  • Carlos Delgado received nine votes, while Don Mattingly and Dale Murphy each drew six.
  • Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Gary Sheffield and Fernando Valenzuela received fewer than five votes and are ineligible for the 2028 players ballot, with the earliest return in 2031 under the new rule.
