Consum Reaches 1,000 Supermarkets as It Opens Aldaia and Xàtiva Branches

The worker-owned cooperative absorbed staff from a nine-store acquisition last year to pursue its goal of opening 18 more locations across Spain in 2025.

  • Consum has opened two new supermarkets in Aldaia and Xàtiva, marking its 1,000th store across company-owned outlets and Charter franchises.
  • The Aldaia location spans more than 1,100 m2 with 57 parking spaces while the Xàtiva branch offers over 1,300 m2 and access to 174 shared parking spots.
  • Employees from the nine-store Kuups Design International acquisition now total 38 in Aldaia and 35 in Xàtiva under the Consum banner.
  • Consum plans to open 18 additional stores this year with seven in the Comunitat Valenciana, six in Cataluña, three in Murcia and two in Andalucía.
  • In 2024, the cooperative created 653 jobs, distributed €105.4 million in profits to worker-owners and cut its carbon footprint by 81.1 percent since 2015.
