Construction Starts on India’s First Vande Bharat Maintenance Depot in Jodhpur

Set to finish in late 2025, the 600-meter facility with three pit lines will service trains from across India pending approval of a ₹200 crore workshop alongside a dedicated training centre.

  • Located at Bhagat Ki Kothi in Jodhpur division, the depot is the first of four dedicated Vande Bharat maintenance hubs planned nationwide.
  • Spread over 600 meters, it features three pit lines designed to maintain up to three Vande Bharat trains simultaneously.
  • Construction is underway and the facility is projected to be operational by December 2025.
  • A ₹200 crore proposal for an on-site workshop with a dedicated training centre has been submitted for approval.
  • Recruitment through the Railway Recruitment Board is set to fill new roles, followed by specialised training for depot staff.
