Construction Starts on AM Green’s Kakinada Green Ammonia Complex

Construction begins on a Kakinada complex targeting green ammonia exports under a confirmed Uniper offtake.

Overview

  • Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan laid the foundation and initiated the first equipment installation on January 17 in Kakinada.
  • The plant is planned to ramp production in phases to 0.5 MTPA by 2027, 1.0 MTPA by 2028 and 1.5 MTPA by 2030.
  • AM Green has a signed agreement to supply 125 KTPA of green ammonia to Germany’s Uniper starting in 2028, with exports also targeted to Japan and Singapore.
  • The integrated build couples 7.5 GW of solar and wind, pumped‑hydro storage at Pinnapuram and 1,950 MW of electrolysers to provide round‑the‑clock renewable power for production.
  • The project converts the former Nagarjuna grey ammonia facility near Kakinada port; officials cite a multi‑billion‑dollar investment and up to 8,000 construction jobs, with backing from Gentari, GIC and ADIA.
