Overview

• The vessel became lodged under the Maswan bridge around 6 PM Monday when heavy rain and rising Surya River levels caused it to snag.
• District Collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar directed a multiagency effort that included the NDRF, District Disaster Management Authority, police, NHAI and regional response teams.
• Rescuers stabilised the boat overnight to prevent it from drifting downstream and endangering a nearby embankment.
• Operations resumed at first light on Tuesday once rainfall subsided, allowing crews to work with the river’s flow.
• The boat was fully extracted by 10 AM without any casualties or damage to the vessel, bridge or embankment.
