Construction Begins on Mogarpada Depot for Four Mumbai Metro Lines

Overview

  • On June 13, MMRDA formally took possession of 174.01 hectares in Mogarpada, Thane to build a unified metro depot.
  • Construction is set to start immediately after SEW-VSE JV won the Rs 905 crore contract and received the Notice to Proceed.
  • The facility will include 10 workshop lines, 10 inspection lines and 64 stabling lines alongside advanced maintenance systems.
  • The depot will centralize operations for Metro Lines 4, 4A, 10 and 11 across a 55.99 km network linking CSMT and Mira Road.
  • Upon commissioning, the depot is projected to cut travel times by up to 50% and serve around 1.2 million passengers daily.
