Consortium Keeps CLAT 2027 Syllabus and Pattern Unchanged

Public feedback on a newly published expert report is open until August 31, 2026, and major reform decisions have been deferred to a committee to be constituted by the Office of the Chief Justice of India for consideration ahead of CLAT 2028.

Overview

  • The Consortium of National Law Universities announced on Wednesday that the UG and PG CLAT 2027 papers will keep the existing syllabus, sections and exam pattern.
  • CLAT 2027 is scheduled for Sunday, December 6, 2026, from 2 pm to 4 pm, and the Consortium says detailed admission information will be released separately.
  • The Consortium published the CLAT Expert Committee Report 2026 and invited feedback from experts, students and the public until August 31, 2026.
  • The Convenor for CLAT 2027 and paper setters have been asked to consider and adopt suggestions from the Expert Committee about question format and quality where feasible for the 2027 paper.
  • More substantive changes will be reviewed for possible implementation in CLAT 2028 after the Office of the Chief Justice of India constitutes a committee to examine the report and public feedback, while reports differ on whether registration opens on August 1 or August 3 with one notification showing an application window through October 31.
