Consett Roundabout Reopens Following Suspected Motorbike Crash

Now reopened, the junction remains under police investigation with no confirmation yet on injuries sustained.

Overview

  • North East Ambulance Service dispatched an ambulance crew, a specialist paramedic, a rapid response paramedic and a duty officer after receiving a crash report at 6:52 am on July 13.
  • Durham Police closed the A692 roundabout at Rotary Way where it meets Delves Lane and Station Road and urged drivers to use alternative routes.
  • Officers erected cordons around the entire junction and carried out photographic evidence gathering throughout the morning.
  • The roundabout stayed shut for roughly six hours before reopening at around 1:28 pm.
  • Authorities have not confirmed the cause or the extent of any injuries and continue to investigate the collision believed to have involved a motorbike.
