Conservatives Top Q2 Donations With £1m Jez San Gift as Reform Draws Former Tory Donors

Overall fundraising slipped from early‑year levels, far below last year’s election peak.

Overview

  • Electoral Commission data for April to June show parties declared about £11m, down from £13.5m in Q1 2025 and well below the £57m reported in the election period of Q2 2024.
  • The Conservatives reported £2.9m, with a third from Jez San’s £1m contribution and further large gifts from treasurer Graham Edwards (£250,000) and Kamal Pankhania/Westcombe Homes (£200,000).
  • Labour recorded £2.6m, with more than half from trade unions including Unite (£746,000), GMB (£442,000), Usdaw (£246,000) and the Communication Workers Union (£106,000); its largest private donation was £80,000 from Activepine.
  • Reform UK took in about £1.4m, including £500,000 from treasurer Nick Candy and other contributions linked to former Conservative backers such as Bassim Haidar (£200,000), Johan Christofferson (£100,000), Greybull Capital (£100,000) and R20 (£50,000).
  • The Liberal Democrats declared £773,597, roughly half their Q1 total, while Conservatives argued the figures show confidence in Kemi Badenoch’s leadership and questioned donor commitment to Reform UK.
