• The call came just after 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Northeast Elementary School playground in Vernon, officials said.
• Vernon Fire Department crews responded with Vernon EMS and the Vernon Police Department for a confined-space rescue inside a tube slide.
• Officials said the man was wedged feet- and head-first in the slide’s midsection, and photos showed him turned sideways with his body folded at the waist.
• Rescuers ventilated the enclosed slide to address heat and removed a section of the structure to reach him, freeing him in about 30 minutes.
• After an on-scene assessment by EMS, he refused treatment and transport, and the fire department later shared details and photos on social media.
