Overview
- LACEV’s “Expedición Cretácica I – 2025” aims to revisit the site where a Bonapartenykus ultimus claw was found in 2024 to search for additional skeletal material toward a potential new-species description.
- The excavation focuses on a Late Cretaceous locality about 30 km from General Roca that has produced at least ten yet-to-be-described species across dinosaurs, mammals, reptiles and more.
- Fieldwork spans Sept. 28 to Oct. 15, with public broadcasts scheduled for Oct. 6–10 featuring live excavation, camp life, interviews and virtual outreach workshops.
- Chief scientist Federico Agnolín leads a 20-member team that includes National Geographic–affiliated explorers Matías Motta, Sebastián Rozadilla and Mauro Aranciaga alongside LACEV researchers.
- Viewers can follow the stream on YouTube (@paleocueva_lacev) and Instagram (@paleocueva.lacev), building on CONICET’s prior livestream model that drew over 17 million views for the Talud Continental IV ocean campaign.
