Overview
- The CONI Giunta will meet on Tuesday, October 6 to vote on declaring Giovanni Malagò’s decay and may propose a commissariamento of the FIGC, with the Consiglio Nazionale scheduled to vote immediately afterwards.
- ANAC has ruled there was no incompatibility for Diana Bianchedi and said CONI must determine who may vote, leaving questions about eligible Giunta members unresolved.
- Four jurists commissioned by CONI found tesseramento was required for candidacy but gave CONI discretionary power to judge whether the breach is grave enough to justify commissariamento.
- Malagò has circulated five opposing legal opinions that argue tesseramento was not an essential requisito and that commissariamento would be disproportionate, and he plans immediate appeals if a takeover is ordered.
- A commissariamento would almost certainly trigger fast legal challenges to the Collegio di Garanzia and administrative courts and has drawn UEFA warnings that it could damage trust in Italy’s governance and put Euro 2032 at risk.
